Pebbles and mountains, lampshades and umbrellas, cars and airships, … everything around us has an interesting surface.

There are surfaces …
which slide on themselves, which can be laid out flat, through every point of which straight lines run, which have the least possible area for their boundary.

All these properties lend themselves to hands-on work.
